Southside Vet Clinic Owner: Dr Liz Craig
In the earliest photos of me, when mobile enough to stand, there will always be an animal attached, under an arm or sitting beside me (much to my eldest sisters dismay as she is allergic to most animals and thus my presence) It was almost predestined that I would spend my life looking after animals.
I graduated with honors from Queensland University way back in 1981 .Back in those days, I returned home to the Snowy Mountains of NSW for Christmas before intending on travelling overseas for further veterinary studies. After postponing a few times due to animals appearing for treatment, I eventually cancelled and opened my first practice which grew to be part of the Monaro community. In the next 20 years, I followed my passion of being a vet and expanded with a branch practice in Cooma. In this amazing community I raised my two sons who remain my best mates and a vital part of my life.
After leaving the Snowys, I went to the extreme of climate change of Rockhampton for almost 10 years, and for the last few years I have called Brisbane home. I have locumed in many practices around the South-East but missed being able to be there for clients and their pets and so opened our Practice in Loganholme.
One of my treasured possessions is the photo album given to me on leaving the Monaro. This displayed the lifespans of so many treasured pets I had been lucky enough to treat and know over their lives – the long term contact and care being a driving factor to return to my own practice. We have aimed at providing a well equipped, caring practice which will help from medical to surgical to behavioral to grooming – a holistic view for your pet.
Retail Manager: Glenda Davis
Our Retail Manager and front of house expert, Glenda, brings with her years of animal expertise to our small but dedicated team. Glenda was actively involved in many wildlife rescue and rehabilitation organisations around Brisbane. Glenda is one of the few carers to have held licences for the care of not only koalas, but echidnas as well. For more years than she can count, her home was shared with kangaroos and wallabies, koalas, echidnas and the odd possum here and there. Neighbors were not longer shocked to see koalas attached to her head every time they popped over! For many years Glenda was a volunteer carer at Moggil Koala hospital and the koala habitat at Dreamworld. Glenda has a deeply enquiring mind and at the age of 50 decided to embark on tertiary education in her chosen field. She was granted her degree in Zoology a few years later. Still a keen student, Glenda’s personal love is behavioral issues in our companion animals and is available to assist you in learning more about your animal’s behavior and ways to improve troublesome situations. Glenda has also had many years working in the retail area of pet supplies and has a fantastic knowledge of the products and foods available for your pet.

Lisa is a passionate horsewoman and owns quite a few horses, that she promises us one day she will get around to competing on. Lisa has been a volunteer for many animal organisations during her life and has a sound foundation to build upon. Lisa does love her cats and is a zealous advocate of desexing to prevent the dumping of unwanted litters each year.
Veterinary Nurse: Lana McLaren
Like my team members, I have always loved animals and dreamed of working with them when I grew up. I thought the only career path for this was being a veterinarian, but then I found vet nursing and fell in love. I wouldn’t dream of doing anything else.
I have been nursing now for four years and am completing my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Not only have I learned a lot from my course, but also from my colleagues, patients, clients and my own pets. I have 16 gorgeous guinea pigs, who have had their fair share of medical dramas in the five years I’ve owned them, but I’m very passionate about them and could spend hours telling tales of their silly antics. I also have a red cattle dog, Em, and she has helped me appreciate my canine patients that little bit more, as well as providing good company and lots of laughs.
My favourite part of being a veterinary nurse is educating people. I love when I get to learn something new in the clinic that I can then pass on to a client and help them give their pets a better life. I have two major goals that I’m focusing on currently in my professional life. The first is to finish my certificate so I can move on to further education and the second is to help people realise that animals are not disposable and they are all deserving of love and medical care.
Veterinary Nurse: Kellianne Saul
After graduating high school in 2014 and becoming a member of the Southside Vet Clinic team in the same year, I was able to jump start into my dream job and move closer to my goals of becoming a veterinary nurse. In 2014, as well as graduating high school, I also graduated from my past TAFE course of Certificate II in Animal Studies. In the meantime, I am currently in my first year of my Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
I’m eager to learn new things every day when working with my colleagues. For as long as I can remember, animals have always been a part of my life. From dogs, cats, birds, turtles to even ducks and chickens, I have grown with a keen heart to one day work in the animal industry to further my knowledge and experience.
My love and passion has always been a part of every animal’s wellbeing. I have a beautiful golden retriever named Shylo, who has been on a life changing journey. She has lost a total of 14kg in 5 months and it makes it all worth the time and persistence to see how much your animal’s life can change for the better.
I love to take care of my animals at home and I strive to dedicate that same love and care to any animal that you may bring through our doors.
